Most of these were shot in Central Portugal on and around our quinta. A lot of the local wildlife disappears in the heat of the summer days, but the little critters here are always active no matter how hot it gets. Our neighbours live down in a little valley where they grow aquatic plants and their place is a lovely oasis, particularly in August when the region is baking hot and the grass is crispy brown. Their ponds attract all sorts of wildlife and the dragonflies are plentiful and spectacular. The images in this gallery were shot on the Nikon D610 that I got earlier this year. Love that camera! A macro lens was used for the ants and mantis.
